I Hardly Knowr
More Dreams

I was trying to contact my ex-girlfriend over the internet, and I almost did.  In the waking world, we haven’t spoken in five years, but every now and then I’ll dream that we’ve bumped into each other somewhere or become friends again in some way.  The funny thing is that in last night’s dream I remembered those other dreams as if they really happened, like we’ve had some on-again off-again friendship for years.  The dream made me realize I still love and care about her, and I do hope we hang out someday.

In my next dream I had a number of unexpected guests at my home, some friends and some strangers.  I tried to politely shoo them away.

Then I was in Disney World with my parents and uncle.  I’ve never been in real life, and it looked fun, but then my alarm went off and woke me up.  :(

I don’t presume to speak for women, only myself.  And correct me if I’m wrong, but mansplaining as it was explained to me refers to men trying to “correct” women’s behavior when they report being victims of sexism.  This woman made no such claims.

I tried to read the whole thing, I really did, but I couldn’t. I skipped to the end and felt confident from her conclusion that I got the gist of it.

Women like this are the reason I don’t use or like the word “patriarchy.” Yes, women’s competitiveness in attracting partners is a MAJOR problem that our society needs to address and solve, but women like this who equate it as “they hate me because I’m pretty” aren’t just missing the bigger picture, they’re actively contributing to a society that values women’s appearance and nothing more. Instead of belittling the women around her (the only difference between she and they are that they know they’re victims, while she wallows in being one), she should be turning away those men and saying “I’m a woman, and an adult, and I can pay for my own damn train ticket.”
Hell, she could even write an entire article about it, for the Daily Mail. I thoroughly hope they publish a rebuttal soon.

On a side note, the way society keeps women in control by making sure they’re in a constant state of competition and distrust with each other was the central metaphor of Utena, which you should totally check out.

This is much more than a fun little pop song to me.  There’s a surprising amount of venom in Jackson’s voice, particularly toward the end of the song.  It’s what’s always attracted me to his music, he’s such a passionate singer.

This is the third act, fighter walking down the hallway song, with some flashbacks intercut to preparing for the fight.

I really want to make a cyberpunk movie someday.  Frankly, I think MegaTen could be an amazing adaptation, though you’d have to alter it a lot from the source material.  I’d keep the bits about YHWH being the villain, though.
